FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Our Hemp Seed Oil 'Skin & Body Care' range is derived from organically grown hemp. We grow our own Hemp Crops in the Far North Queensland region and produce a range of finished products including the development of Hemp building products using the hemp fibre and our hemp skin care range naturally.  Hemp Seed Oil derived from our hemp seeds is cold pressed and then turned into a variety of Skin Care Products.

How Much Hempseed Oil?

Currently FAANZ is putting forward an application towards changing the legislation on hempseed for human consumption.  Please see the links below for more details.

How Keep Hempseed Oil?

Hempseed oil must be refrigerated after opening and must never be heated otherwise all the valuable EFAs will be destroyed.

Is Hempseed Oil for Everyone?

Allergic skin rashes can but rarely occur. Nausea results from exceeding the livers capacity for fats and oils.

Q:  How long does the oil last?
A:  Your Pure Delight hemp oil should last anywhere from 6-12 months if it is kept in refrigeration.

Q:  Are there preservatives?

A:  The only product using synthetic preservative is our face cream which is less than 0.3% of the volume.  We are working on a formula to remove this.

Q:  Are Pure Delight hemp products organic?

A:  The plants are grown organically with no herbicides or pesticides. All products have been refrigerated at all times prior to leaving our premises.

Q:  How do you use the hemp protein flour?

A:  We get asked this a lot and again sorry folks it is a legislation thing that we really can't advise.  Officially it's for your pet dogs, bird, cat, horse, pig, cow, etc.  Pure Delight hemp protein is 33% complete protein, which means it has all the essential amino acids.  Its high protein content and high fibre are easy to digest and makes it a perfect food source for all animals.

Q:  Are the aluminium cans safe to use?

A:  The metal in the bottles has been anodized which makes it inert.  We even store citrus oil in these bottles and there is no corrosion.  I?ve been told by my suppliers that the same bottles are used by the Swiss Army.  They are totally safe for food products.

Q:  What about drug tests?

A:  While the drug testing in most organizations is based primarily on detection of minute amounts of THC (the drug active constituent in hemp) it may not be advisable to use hemp oil products as it is impossible to remove 100% of the trace amounts.  It is likely below 0.0001% but this may accumulate and cause detection.

Q:  What about the Sodium Laureth Sulphate in the shampoo?

A:  Our shampoo contains Sodium LAURETH Sulphate.  Sodium Laureth Sulphate is a byproduct of Sodium Lauryl Sulphate and is even milder.  This is a very controversial area.  Some people are trying to avoid Sodium Lauryl Sulphate and similar surfactants (sudsing agents) because they've been told these are harmful chemicals that can cause a whole host of health problems.  There are a lot of urban legends floating around about what these chemicals can do to you (everything from causing cancer to kidney damage).  Most of these rumours are not based on any scientific fact.  First of all, you should know what Sodium Lauryl Sulphate is.  It is a foaming agent used in shampoos, detergents, toothpastes, etc.  It is naturally derived from coconut oil (a natural ingredient).  You will find it and its derivatives on ingredients labels under many different names.  All soaps and detergents can irritate the eyes.   Therefore, rubbing pure Lauryl Sulphate on your skin would not be a good idea. In its pure form, it is an irritant. However, sodium Sauryl Sulphate has been used for many years in many different products intended for use on the skin (and even in the mouth) and is generally considered safe.  It's used in most of the "natural" products you'll find because it is a very good foaming agent, has no taste is considered safe by most people and is considered "natural" by many.  Many natural product manufacturers use this ingredient because it has been so widely used for such a long period of time and it does a good job.

We feel there is nothing wrong with using Sodium Laureth Sulphate in the amount it's used in the products we sell.  For those with very sensitive skin, you may want to try to avoid Sodium Laureth Sulphate.  However, there is a lot of bad publicity on the substance (and a lot of just plain wrong information floating around).  Chlorinated water is probably more likely to be the culprit when it comes to skin condition, especially when it?s hot!  We have tried a Potassium-based soap and found it made our hair brittle and dry so we have elected to keep our Hemp Seed Oil Fortified Shampoo which leaves hair soft, shiny and resilient.

Q:  Can I buy hemp seeds whole?

A:  At this time it is illegal to sell whole hemp seeds as they are identical in appearance to the high drug varieties.  Only registered growers may possess hemp seed.

Q: Growing hemp I'd like to grow hemp, what do I do?  Can I grow hemp on my property?

A:  Hemp growing licences are only available in some states.  Normally, even with a licence it is not viable to grow under less than 5 hectares due to fees for drug testing, etc.  The seed is also quite difficult to obtain however Pure Delight Hemp gains access to crops through its subsidiary company Sweet Suxess Pty Ltd.  The supply and demand for hemp has kept the whole industry at a very low growth level, however, hopefully this situation will change in the near future.

Q:  Building Material - Hemp biocrete & building materials.  How do I buy some?

A:  Presently we are still developing the products to a commercial level.  All the fibre we have is being used on our own projects.  As soon as the biocrete becomes commercially available all members will be notified by email or post.
